The Scientific Program Committee of the IOA Annual Meeting for 2011 is currently accepting abstracts for submission in the following categories:

  • Scientific Paper
  • Scientific Poster

Paper Contest

This contest is open to all ophthalmologists and residents-in-training of any ophthalmology residency training program duly accredited by the Indonesian Collegiums of Ophthalmology.

For residents-in-training, the research paper must have been done during the author residency in Ophthalmology. The senior (presenting) author must be a resident at the time of presentation, or a recent graduate (not more than 12 months after completion of residency). Papers done by post-residency fellows-in-training, when done as part of the fellowship are not acceptable.

Instructions For Abstract Submission

  1. Abstracts must be submitted online. Authors must register first for the annual meeting before they can submit abstract online. The deadline for submission will be strictly followed. Past this deadline, no abstracts will be accepted either by electronic or hard copy. Please visit http://www.perdami.or.id/pitperdami2011manado/
     
  2. Abstracts must be in English, and will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Edit your abstract to avoid errors and misspellings. Your abstract may be rejected for publication if it is not comprehensible.
     
  3. Author/s: Give the full name of every author, including degrees, but omit titles or institutional appointments. Presenting author's name should be mentioned first.
     
  4. Institution/s: Indicate the name and address of the institution/s where the research work was carried out.
     
  5. Text: Abstracts should contain adequate and pertinent information describing the contents of the scientific paper. The text must not exceed 250 words and should be arranged in the following format: Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
     
  6. Abbreviations, acronyms and symbols should be defined the first time they are used. Place the abbreviation in parentheses after the full word.
     
  7. Proprietary and/or financial interests in any products (or competing products) described in the abstract must be disclosed.
     
  8. Once accepted, no changes in the type of presentation will be allowed. Abstracts may be withdrawn by sending a written withdrawal to the Scientific Program Committee. However, withdrawn abstracts may still appear in the Final Program.
     
  9. Manuscripts will become the property of the IOA and will be considered for publication in the Majalah Ophthalmology Indonesia
     
  10. Copyright Policy: The Indonesia Ophthalmologist Association reserves copyright on all materials presented during this meeting. Material that has already been published or submitted for publication elsewhere will not be accepted.


IOA paper contest guidelines

  1. Introduction
    1. The purpose of this contest is to encourage all the members of IOA (Perdami) in writing either clinical reports or scientific research which expectedly creating significant impacts, particularly in our national eye care improvement and blindness eradication.
    2. Through this continue participation of papers submission, the national journal magazine of Perdami, Majalah Oftalmologica Indonesiana (MOI) is sustainably delivered routinely to every member in the country whom will obtain scientific benefit that can improve their service to the Indonesian people. Moreover, higher accreditation of this magazine is most likely assured in the future.
    3. Members are expected gain experience in the presentation of papers and to give them an opportunity to participate more fully in the National meetings.
  2. Contest Categories
    1. Resident of Ophthalmology paper contest, divided into:
      1. Scientific Observational paper
      2. Scientific Experimental paper
    2. Ophthalmologist paper contest
      1. This category is opened for any study design or method
    3. Scientific Poster
      1. Open for resident of ophthalmology and ophthalmologist
      2. no specific study design or method required

  4. General Rules
    1. This contest is eligible only for Perdami (IOA) member.
    2. Abstracts may only be submitted online. Authors must register first for the annual meeting before they can submit abstract online. The deadline for submission will be strictly followed. Past this deadline, no abstracts will be accepted either by electronic or hard copy.
    3. The Scientific Committee will notify the authors regarding their contest category based on each design/ methods of the abstract. Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author/s to present if selected for the Final Program. First authors stated in the submitted paper is considered the presenter during free paper session.
    4. Full Manuscript in Microsoft Word (.doc) file for paper contest OR a print out of poster (A4 paper size) and its copy in PDF file (.pdf)is required to submit before deadline otherwise authors will not be included in the contest and not allowed to present their paper during annual meeting.
    5. Full manuscript format must be as follows: Times New Roman with font size 11, 1 spacing, A4 paper, maximum 6 pages.
    6. Once accepted, no changes in the type of paper category will be allowed. Abstracts may be withdrawn by sending a written withdrawal to the Scientific Committee. However, withdrawn abstracts may still appear in the Final Program.
    7. Manuscripts will become the property of the IOA cq Departemen Pengembangan & Peningkatan Profesi (DP3/ Professional Development Dept.) and will be considered for publication in the Majalah Oftalmologica Indonesiana (MOI).   5. Prizes
    1. Junior Ophthalmologist
      Two categories and three winners for each categories as follows:
      1st prize : Rp. 15.000.000,-
      2nd prize : Rp. 7.500.000,-
      3rd prize : Rp. 5.000.000,-
    2. Ophthalmologist :
      One category as follows:
      1st prize : Rp. 15.000.000,-
      2nd prize : Rp. 7.500.000,-
      3rd prize : Rp. 5.000.000,-
    3. Scientific Poster :
      One category (includes junior and senior ophthalmologists) as follows:
      1st prize : Rp. 15.000.000,-
      2nd prize : Rp. 7.500.000,-
      3rd prize : Rp. 5.000.000,-
  6. Board of Juries
    1. Members of Board of juries are appointed as Professional Development Department Regulation in Annual Meeting instruction manual (Pokok pokok Penyelenggaran PIT oleh DP3) which comprising member from Perdami, Indonesian Ophthalmology Collegiums (KOI) and ophthalmology special interest groups.
    2. Grading & awarding system
      1. Paper assessment
        1. The Juries will receive and assess manuscript that has been screened initially by the local scientific committee.
        2. The assessment uses a score card that provided by DP3.
        3. The scorecards result then will be collected and resumed.
      2. Presentation judgment
        1. The main authors will present their slide presentation during free paper session.
        2. The juries are scheduled to give final assessment on their each presentation.
      3. The decision of Board of Juries is final and can not be appealed.
